Title of entry: Bruin Bound Welcome Video

About this entry: Every year, UCLA produces two informative, celebratory programs that bring UCLA to life for admitted students: Bruin Bound and Bruin Day. Bruin Bound features regional events that introduce UCLA to admitted freshmen who are not local. Bruin Day is a one-day event that welcomes admitted students and their families to campus.

Due to the pandemic, these events could not be held in the traditional manner in 2020. This led to the creation of Bruin Bound Online, which offers all the same information and excitement virtually. The Bruin Bound Welcome Video was produced to recreate the energy of the University Welcome, which kicks off Bruin Day every year.

Since the video was produced while working within health and safety constraints that had been put in place, existing footage was used whenever possible, filming only what was essential. The video includes compelling imagery, voiceover narration and sound bites from campus leaders.

The end result is a quick-paced, dynamic, heartwarming video that conveys a cohesive, resonant message that builds and flows in an emotionally satisfying arc.
