Title of entry: Berkeley Haas magazine
About this entry: Berkeley Haas is the alumni magazine of UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. Published three times a year and redesigned in 2019, each issue aims to maintain a smart, entertaining dialogue across a variety of industries and bolster our brand, which is that Haas provides new thinking for a new, 21st century economy and that members of the Haas community envision responsible, unconventional solutions to the big problems of our time.
In 2021, we tackled several of these big issues: the future of healthcare, our troubled food system, the global climate crisis, and the revolution happening in fintech. Our writers were tasked with ambitious assignments and interviewed nearly two dozen alumni and faculty per feature, providing reporting that is both broad and deep and that reflects the wide-ranging influence Haas alumni have on the world. The article on healthcare has become the most popular of our eight redesigned issues.
We also aim to be unexpected, which is why we showcase some unconventional business careers: “The Font Detective” profiles the world’s foremost forensic font expert who has helped solve crimes; “Fair Ball” features two alumnae—an athlete and an artist—reimagining the future of women’s professional sports.
We aim for useful, engaging content that would be of interest to a broad audience and make Haas alumni feel especially proud of their community and alma mater.
