Title of entry: UC Davis Community Cookbook
About this entry: During the pandemic many of us at home found ourselves cooking more. As a result, our first ever, UC Davis community sourced cookbook was born! We wanted to provide our community the opportunity to share recipes with each other and engage in a passive program that allowed people to participate asynchronously. We had 47 recipes submitted by the UC Davis community and also sourced recipes from our ASUCD Coffee House (CoHo) and Student Housing & Dining Services (SHDS) as well as wine parings submitted by the Aggies Uncorked Wine Club. In addition to getting to highlight important eateries on campus and our community sourced recipes, we also were able to reach hundreds of constituents who downloaded our cookbook (we have 1,800 clicks to download and counting!) It was definitely our most clicked on item on our website, in our newsletters, and on social media throughout the entire year. We also used the cookbook as an opportunity to engage our Alumni Association members. Any members who contributed to the cookbook were sent a UC Davis branded apron as a way of thanking them for contributing. We also hosted several virtual cooking events throughout the year and were able to highlight some of the recipes from the cookbook during these events. As such, the cookbook ended up being a multifaceted project that helped us engage our members, build virtual programming to further engage constituents, give our community the opportunity to share with each other, and highlight some important campus institutions.
