Title of entry: President Drake COVID-19 PSA

About this entry: On March 3, 2021, the University of California Office of the President (UCOP) released a public service announcement-style video encouraging the UC community to follow COVID-19 safety protocols and to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Recognizing the public need for timely, authoritative, and fact-based information around the vaccine, UCOP created and released the video within the first few weeks of COVID-19 shots becoming widely available to Californians.

The video was distributed to a broad and diverse audience of UC faculty, students, staff, and community members, as well as external stakeholders and public health officials, with the goal of galvanizing action through a direct, succinct, and shareable video message.

Ultimately, the video succeeded in amplifying the COVID-19 messaging of UC’s 10 campuses and medical centers; demonstrating UC’s commitment to public health to California leaders; and building a sense of urgency among the UC community about the importance of following safety protocols and getting vaccinated.
