Title of entry: Aggies Uncorked Wine Club

About this entry: In July of 2020 the Cal Aggie Alumni Association launched Aggies Uncorked wine club. The purpose of the wine club is to celebrate the 100+ year impact UC Davis Aggies have had in the wine industry and allow CAAA to engage with constituents in a new and unique way. Each release features hand-crafted wines produced by wineries with a UC Davis connection along with a printed newsletter featuring the UC Davis alum/alums, their wine and winery. Club members are invited to virtual release parties to learn from fellow Aggies about their wine, winery, family histories, current sustainability trends and environmental concerns. The virtual events have connected fellow alums from all over country in a way that didn’t exist in the past. We launched the club to our CAAA Members across the country in July 2020, in the height of the pandemic, with the hope it would create a much needed distraction during a very challenging time. Aggies Uncorked has seen tremendous success in its first year and exceeded goals well over 200%. UC Davis is driven to promote diversity and equity in the wine industry and the club has showcased 20 diverse alumni. The club further amplifies the impact that Aggies make in the world of wine and will support students in our department of Viticulture and Enology. A portion of the funds collected are going back to further student education and experiences.
