About this entry: The e-newsletter from the University of Iowa sent to over 150,000 alumni and friends of the University of Iowa needed to evolve just as goals and strategic priorities had since its initial design launched three years prior. Peer institution research, deep analysis of past newsletter analytics, and close evaluation of organization initiatives were all integrated into the new redesign.
The content strategy emphasizes a visual hierarchy where the most important content has larger images and HTML buttons for the call to action. Content that is less important but still vital in moving the needle on strategic initiatives receives text-only links. Each section closely matches strategic priorities, has historically received above-average engagement, and as often as possible – both.
