Title of entry: It's never too late...

About this entry: As our new college president took office and a new diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) committee was formed on our Alumni Council, it became apparent that we needed to highlight the alumnus who stepped up to lead this initiative — an alum who began working at the college immediately after graduation, but then was fairly disconnected from the institution after he moved on to other professional roles. Now an nationally recognized expert in DEI in higher education, his realization that it wasn't too late for him to find his home on the Hill as a Black alumnus in what was historically a predominantly white-majority campus was worth sharing with all our alumni. The hope was that his story would help especially our alumni of color see that even if it didn't feel like home to them while they were students, they can help it feel more like home for our current and future students by getting involved with the college again.
