Title of entry: University of Waterloo Campaign Operating Plan Site
About this entry: The Campaign Operating Plan is a virtual site housing all material related to Campaign - a rapidly evolving go-to site for Advancement, Deans, faculty and volunteers committed to fundraising at the University of Waterloo.
The objective was to create a digital repository for all campaign material, a shift from traditional printed formats. Accessible 24/7 to staff and volunteers, it is a central system for all material, ensuring files are organized, systematic and transparent.
We worked with our Advancement Systems Team to create a SharePoint site skeletal structure that would make sense for the users. Once mapped out, we worked with Creative Services on branding elements, to ensure visual appeal and consistency with the Campaign brand.
The site is designed in SharePoint; however, it does not look like a typical SharePoint site. Instead, it looks similar to a website, where users can rely on clearly marked tiles to easily navigate to the information they are looking for. Users can also reference the Table of Contents and User Guide to help them find the information. The events calendar on the right-hand pane highlights upcoming events and meetings related to Campaign.
The content within the Campaign Operating Plan site is grouped into subpages. After entering the site, users click on the appropriate content tile to view a subpage. On each subpage, a Documents Library opens files and folders.
Using surveys and one-on-one demonstrations, we incorporated feedback on the Campaign Operating Plan site – the consensus is it is extremely user friendly and usable.
