About this entry: In the fall of 2019, Auburn Engineering swung wide the doors of the Brown-Kopel Engineering Student Achievement Center, a $44-million commitment to providing the best student-centered engineering experience in the country by constructing the best on-campus active learning environment in the country. There were classrooms, a grand hall, computer labs, a cafe, tutoring services, a design studio. But, for a variety of reasons — Covid, most especially — the 11,000-square-foot makerspace on the ground floor intended to be the crown jewel, remained a hidden gem. “Meet the Makers” is the story of the students who, over the past year, have helped the space fulfill its potential as the game-changing facility administrators — and engineering student recruiters — envisioned.
