Description

Best of CASE District III Award

Institution: University of Virginia

Title of entry: Envision Campaign Magazine 2021

About this entry: Envision occupies a unique space at UVA, serving as its only communications vehicle dedicated to highlighting the entire landscape of philanthropic activity. The magazine assists in stewarding/recognizing donors, as well as inspiring new gifts. It is used widely by fundraisers to start conversations, build relationships, and demonstrate a variety of philanthropic opportunities. Two print editions are submitted (summer/winter). A digital Envision is emailed monthly to all donors. Our central giving website features an Envision landing page (URL submitted).

Our goal for Envision is to recognize existing donors and inspire new ones. By this metric, the magazine has been a huge success. Fundraisers routinely email our team to let us know about stories that have resulted in new gifts or conversations. Envision has also become the unofficial gold standard of publications within the internal UVA community, thanks to the magazine’s quality editorial and design content. A UVA vice president attending a meeting of the Board of Visitors, the University’s highest governing body, recently held up and quoted from the magazine during an official meeting of the advancement committee. A donor, honored at the same meeting, also read from the magazine to the board members.
