Title of entry: Westminster Working Cultures Professional – global alumni panel events

About this entry: Westminster Working Cultures (WWC) Professional is an online alumni event series that delivers events in select regions and countries around the world. The event series was created for current and prospective international students, as well as recent graduates, to give them insights into local global working environments from Westminster graduates who live and work there.

Westminster is an incredibly diverse and international university with 30% of the student community coming from outside the UK. WWC Professional was launched specifically to support our global student and graduate community by featuring speakers who are working in sectors relevant to the subjects our international students are studying.

Through this virtual event series, we engage a range of speakers and reach a wide audience, for example: across regions where we don’t have a concentrated alumni population such as the Middle East and North Africa. Students join the virtual events from London whilst recent graduates can tune in locally.

Events begin with a panel discussion and feature at least three local speakers who speak about their professional journey, the value of a degree from the University of Westminster and offer specific advice relevant to local work environments. A short group Q&A follows and all events are recorded.

In 2022, WWC Professional ran five events for students and recent graduates in the Middle East and North Africa, Europe, Africa and two events in China. 16 alumni speakers from ten countries shared their experience and 307 prospective and current students and recent graduates attended the events.
