Title of entry: alumnecc

About this entry: The fall 2022 issue of alumnecc centered on a theme of community. We used the hire of the college's first JEDI officer to inspire a variety of connections to the larger NECC community. From the president's welcome letter used some JFK quotes from the time of college's founding to call upon alumni and donors to be better together. From there a Q&A with our new JEDI officer tees-up her goal to extend the college into the communities we serve. From a feature on NECC's first-in-the-nation competency-based degree in early childhood ed to a feature on an alumnus whose business partners with NECC for interns, we offer a variety of shorter stories all showing how NECC is building a stronger community.

We chose the community feature to give context to why and how our two campuses will benefit from a full-time advocate in the form of a DEIB/JEDI role.
