For 2022, sociology Professor Joseph Richardson shares what he’s learned over his decades of on-the-ground research on racial disparities in urban gun violence. He works alongside university President Darryll J. Pines and fellow presidents from local universities in a regional university collaboration called the 120 Initiative, formed to advance potential solutions to reduce gun violence in the United States. In this video, Richardson breaks down the societal, political and systemic roots of America’s gun violence issue.
