About this entry: President Kayse Shrum and Oklahoma State University leadership set a new vision for the university system and our team made it come to life for our audiences — setting us on the path to becoming the nation’s preeminent land-grant university. The plan to launch a new vision for OSU was a tremendous undertaking. While strategic plans typically sit on a shelf, our team communicated the strategy launch in a powerful and effective way that garnered widespread exposure across the state via print, digital and broadcast channels. In light of a year with many additional events and announcements, we used an Apple-inspired reveal announcement with dynamic motion graphics and a streamlined presentation. By utilizing a variety of communication channels, including social media, advertising, news releases, magazine stories and video, we were able to clearly communicate the audacious vision for OSU. In doing so, we garnered excitement and support from key audiences and inspired the Cowboy family to take part in achieving the lofty goals set out in the strategy. By aligning advertising opportunities, social media content, public outreach, media opportunities and more, our team continues to distribute frequent and intentional content that highlights the strategy’s priorities of aerospace, energy, health, agriculture, STEM, general education reform, student debt reduction, student success initiatives, the Cowboy Culture and more. Through this effort and others, OSU is establishing itself as the nation’s preeminent land-grant university.
