Title of entry: 150th Anniversary Microsite
About this entry: A Sesquicentennial is, quite literally, an event 150 years in the making. Not only is it a testament to a college’s impact and staying power, it’s a prime opportunity to achieve larger goals like increased brand awareness and fundraising.
TCU celebrates its Sesquicentennial in 2023, and to build excitement and provide a central hub for all things 150th-related, we launched 150.tcu.edu, a multimedia-rich microsite. In keeping with the importance of the occasion, we went big with a custom design and functionality unlike any other site on the TCU.edu domain.
While TCU’s 150th celebration didn’t kick off until January 2023, work on the commemorative site began a year in advance to allow time for content strategy, user experience work, content development, design and programming.
The site came to life in two phases: a landing page primarily for internal audiences that launched in March 2022, and a content-rich web experience that launched in August 2022.
The site utilizes interactive features and storytelling so visitors can explore the past, embrace the present and impact the future of TCU. To keep engagement high, it was important that the site not stay static post-launch, but that it be able to grow and change throughout the duration of TCU’s 150th celebration.
TCU’s Marketing & Communication team is proud to say we produced the microsite fully in-house. University leadership and alumni alike have praised it for embodying the spirit of TCU and serving as an essential resource for those looking to engage with the 150th celebration.
