About this entry: For 26 years, UMKC Crescendo has been a signature event and showcase for the university and its Conservatory -- and the invitation for the event is a representation of the creativity, the passion, the deep artistic connections of the event. The invitation draws people to a gala dinner and performance hosted by the Conservatory’s Friends group and raises major funds for Conservatory scholarships. The event is one of Kansas City’s most high profile and anticipated evenings, featuring a kaleidoscope concert -- one hour of non-stop performance featuring an array of dance, music and theater performance by Conservatory students. The performances literally flow from one to the other, ever-changing, with no pause for applause until the very end. This year's gala raised more than $660,000 for student scholarships.
