Title of entry: Ballard Impact Report
About this entry: Celebrating the Ballard Center’s 20th anniversary served as the catalyst to create an extraordinary report for the center's donors and supporters. The project was completed by a small team, with only one student editor, one student designer, and one full-time Marketing and Communications admin working as the Creative Director. The forty-four-page report was created in a less-than-four-month period. Gorgeous imagery throughout the report highlights two graduate nursing students that were sent to Cambodia last October with Neonatal Rescue, a startup that the Ballard Center helped a team of students launch six years ago that is now working to provide low-cost ventilators to help save infants internationally. The legacy of the Ballard Center is shared along with notable student achievements. On page 40 there is a word-cloud graphic that demonstrates the many social impact issue topics that students have researched, with data collected from 272 final papers written by students who took the Ballard Center's foundational “Social Impact: Do Good Better” class. A digital version of the report with a fun page-flipping effect is available at https://online.anyflip.com/lnjbg/hbxz/mobile/ which students can access through a link on social media. The main audience for the report was donors, but there has also been an overwhelmingly positive response from faculty and students. Having a publication that encapsulates what the Ballard Center does and what it stands for, and that rallies support from donors, alumni, and students has been a huge boon to the center’s efforts to inspire and empower students to change the world.
