Title of entry: Program Explorer

About this entry: Program Explorer (rrc.ca/explore) is an RRC Polytech microsite created to help with prospective students’ top-of-funnel program exploration journey. The microsite has two components: (1) exploration tools: including a search box, filters, and comparison tables, all based on the Airbnb experience; and (2) over 150 program pages which were redesigned with a focus on user experience best practices and content relevancy.

The enormity of the project should not be underestimated. With a compressed timeframe, extensive consultation with every academic department, and high levels of collaboration, we created a robust microsite that was phenomenally successful at connecting prospective students with programs that better matched their interests. We saw a year-over-year increase in page dwell time of 235% indicating more relevant content according to our target audience wants and needs. The project also represented an immediate gain for the College, achieving a remarkable four-month return on investment of 1,204% (including staff salaries).
