About this entry: Vanderbilt celebrated the milestone of 100,000 Instagram followers by organizing an on-campus activation and giveaway designed to thank and engage our followers. To accomplish this, we announced on Instagram that we would be setting up a booth in a high-traffic area of campus and hosting a giveaway. Students who demonstrated that they were following @VanderbiltU received a Rand cookie (a beloved Campus Dining offering) or a 100 Grand candy bar. The initiative, “100 Rand for 100 Grand,” aimed to celebrate our social media community and bridge the gap between our online and in-person student engagement. The event provided an opportunity to express our gratitude “in real life” by sharing a personal thank you to more than 100 members of our social media community.
