Title of entry: UND Food Pantry

About this entry: Food insecurity is a growing issue on college campuses nationwide. The University of North Dakota opened the “Food for Thought” food pantry to provide nonperishable food items and personal hygiene products to students in need. Visits to the pantry surged from 2022 to 2023. In the fall of 2023, we started a special fundraising campaign to raise funds for the Food for Thought Food Pantry.

The campaign focused on engaging alumni who were non-donors by highlighting the relatable issue of food insecurity. The goal was to connect with them on a personal level and encourage them to become first-time donors. Using ramen noodles as a symbol, the initiative aimed to make the challenges of college affordability and food access tangible.
