About this entry: The theme of this issue was Forever UND, aligning with the theme of our recently announced capital campaign. Rather than focusing on fundraising, however, we aimed to make our different audiences feel a strong sense of connection with the University of North Dakota and convey the Forever UND theme. To do that, we showed readers a combination of past, present and future. We had a local well-known newspaper columnist who is an alum and current adjunct professor provide a sense of nostalgia through his written essay. Our current students were featured prominently, as we highlighted the growth of our university and showed the amazing things our students are doing with a well-researched photo shoot (with help from our counterparts in central marketing). For those photos, we surveyed our colleges to find students who positively reflected the university. We worked with the students to bring elements to the photo shoot that represent the things they are involved in at UND. Finally, we looked at all the things that bear a Chester Fritz’s name on campus and wondered, how much do our alumni really know about him? Rather than write a wordy article, we decided to provide a pictorial of his fascinating story.
We also included a section filled with all things campaign. We provided the goals, and how they map to our University’s strategic plan. We provided faces, numbers and quotes to give readers a taste of the campaign and the people involved.
