Description
Best of CASE District VI Award
Institution: University of North Dakota Alumni Association & Foundation
Title of entry: Gorecki Rebrand
About this entry: The Gorecki Alumni Center (GAC) is considered the front door to the University of North Dakota campus, welcoming prospective students and serving as home to UND’s 130,000 alumni. Established in 2012, the GAC serves as the headquarters for both UND Admissions and the UND Alumni Association & Foundation. It also functions as a sought-after event venue for weddings, corporate events, and more.
The Gorecki was opened over 10 years ago with a simple logo that included the UND flame as a design element. Since then, the University of North Dakota has developed brand guidelines, which state the flame isn’t allowed in any context other than the official UND logo.
The objective of this project was to revamp the GAC brand to a clean and modern look that complied with the brand guidelines. Given the center's diverse audience, the goal was to develop a design that aligns with the broader campus brand while maintaining a distinct and versatile identity suitable for a variety of events. In February 2023, during a large event for regional business leaders, the new logo was revealed.
