Title of entry: Turtle Medicine
About this entry: Turtle Medicine features an American Indian licensed clinical psychologist who opened up a practice, created her own approach to addressing mental health, and is training others to bring healing to her people.
As Director of Stewardship & Donor Appreciation, I hold a donor’s (or interview subject’s) opinions and experiences in high regard. The process of seeing this project come to fruition took about two years and taught me the importance of cultural understanding and weaving in a variety of aspects that can increase the value of a story to a broad audience. That was my hope with this piece.
Results: While we can measure results by hits on our website, we also consider the increased traffic to our story subject’s business or website a positive result of our work. Dr. Tami reported that the podcast episode featured within the story had a bump in downloads following the release of the article, along with increased website traffic to her website and podcast page. She also received emails from UND alums who read and appreciated the article.
