Title of entry: Innovative AI: Navigating the realm of advanced machine learning

About this entry: Bookmarks is our newsletter for donors and friends of the Iowa State University Library. This Fall issue has 20 pages, and is 7.5x10 inches. The magazine is divided out into different sections that include the letter from the dean, Snapshot, Library By the Numbers, two feature stories, From our Collections, Ask an Expert, In Brief, a giving section, a detachable bookmark, and the back cover that features an upcoming event. I planned out what information/content will go on each page, set up a layout grid structure on Adobe Indesign, delved through a few drafts until the final issue came to be.

I made a collection of illustrations to accompany the feature story that are showcased on the cover, pages 6-11, and on a detachable bookmark located on the inside of the back cover (page 19). These illustrations use striking imagery that encompasses the topic of artificial intelligence. They add depth to the story by showing friendly, visually appealing designs that present AI as an educative vehicle that is engaging, helpful, and fun. The whole issue has a consistent look and feel throughout because I used a clear color palette, consistent font choices, and the same grid structure for each layout.
