Best of CASE District VI Award
Institution: University of Wyoming
Title of entry: Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center Displays
About this entry: Up until 2014, the University of Wyoming had no dedicated space for outside constituents. Old dorms converted to business offices with little accessible parking served as the entry point for donors, alumni, future students, parents of students, state leadership, and corporate and foundation representatives. In creating a new facility for the University of Foundation, we also created the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center—the university’s front porch that welcomes visitors with ample free parking and easy access to the university. It has ample free parking, it is also a convention center used for most of the university’s public events, and it also houses the UW Foundation and the UW Alumni Association. This facility, spearheaded by the UW Foundation, is completely donor-funded and after construction was donated to the university.
Part of the creation of the Gateway Center was the McMurry Foundation Grand Atrium and UW Legacy Hall, which contains state-of-the-art digital displays that are continuously updated:
• 8K Video Wall – An extra-large video screen that spans two walls across a corner at the heart of the Gateway Center.
• Touch Displays – These interactive displays acknowledge the important support of industry and current activities on our campus.
• Interactive Information Kiosks – These interactive digital displays allow visitors to access information about the Gateway Center and the university.
• UW History Timeline – The History and Traditions timeline brings UW history to life.
