Title of entry: About Lincoln Website
About this entry: The University of Nebraska–Lincoln last created a new website about opportunities in the city of Lincoln in 2013, and the content on that site was text-focused and not designed to be mobile-first. Lincoln is a dynamic Midwest college city with attractive things to see and do, and the existing site did not do it justice. University Communication & Marketing recognized a need to update the site with a visually driven, mobile-first approach. After more than a year of planning, content creation and site design and development, the new About Lincoln website launched in February 2024.
From the outset, University Communication and Marketing saw a strategic opportunity to create a visually driven microsite that communicates the breadth of cultural, recreational, social and practical attractions that make Lincoln an exciting, diverse Midwest city. The user-friendly page features eight "personality types” that serve as a fun structural framework for the broad range of experiences anyone can have in the Lincoln community. Each section includes a mobile-friendly video, photos and URLs to explore, with each element pointing back to a central theme that Lincoln is for everyone.
Putting together this comprehensive site required the coordinated efforts of our strategic communications, copywriting, photography, video, social media and web teams for a project that took over a year to ideate, produce and complete. This site now serves as a primary resource for those prospective students/families and new employees who wish to know more about the city.
