Title of entry: The ISZL Podcast - inviting parents into the classroom
About this entry: The ISZL Podcast endeavours to take listeners into the classroom (and the staff room) at the International School of Zug and Luzern. It gives parents and the wider community a perspective on how their children are learning - talking to the guests who host workshops on subjects as diverse as Maths enrichment and racial justice, while going behind the scenes at student events such as Youth Forum Switzerland. It also introduces staff to the array of talent at the school, talking to our language specialist Dr Laura Caputo-Greenall and German teacher Mike Huber about the difficulties of learning High German in Switzerland in the episode “Why Can’t I Learn German?”
As our parent community evolves, many double-working parent households are not able to spend the amount of time inside the school that they did even five years ago. The ISZL Podcast allows them to understand our school’s values, and builds relationships on demand, as people can choose the best time to listen to the school podcast, be it in the car on the commute to school or while out jogging.
Launched in the final weeks of the 2022-23 academic year, the ISZL Podcast has now had over 1,200 downloads, with audience building all the time.
