Title of entry: Harvard Thinking Podcast
About this entry: "Is there such a thing as a "safe" plastic?" "What's lost if a liberal arts education becomes a thing of the past?" "How does a government regain the trust of its constituents?" These are just some of the big-picture questions posed in Harvard Thinking, Harvard University's flagship podcast produced by the Harvard Gazette.
Harvard Thinking convenes experts from Harvard's vast network of academics, faculty, and alumni for conversations about a variety of issues affecting the world in tangible ways. Universities are bastions of knowledge, but that knowledge is often siloed. One goal of Harvard Thinking is to bring together voices across disciplines for unexpected takes on these issues, surfacing discoveries and diverse ideas not just for our internal audiences, but for a range of curious listeners. For this reason, each episode is published for free on the Gazette and available on all major podcasting platforms. Guests are encouraged to explain terms and concepts that may be unfamiliar to those outside of their field, and recommended reading is provided for listeners to further delve into the topics at hand.
To reach the widest range of listeners possible, we make use of Harvard’s expansive online following: our podcast is shared with over 350,000 recipients of the Gazette’s Daily newsletter and is frequently promoted on the University's flagship LinkedIn and Instagram accounts, which have a combined follower count of over 5 million. Since January 2024, Harvard Thinking has hosted 41 guests and amassed over 75,000 downloads/streams across 14 episodes.
