Title of entry: Purveyor of People’s Dreams
About this entry: The Lawrentian is an 80-page magazine published three times a year by The Lawrenceville School, an independent 9-12 boarding and day school in New Jersey. We have long focused on telling interesting stories that are unique to Lawrenceville, and one of our favorite recurring sections is "Take This Job and Love It," which highlights alums working in unusual, quirky, or nontraditional occupations, or fields that makes the readers ask, "Yeah, what is that all about?" In this space, we've featured a tugboat captain, a voiceover artist, and an exotic adventure guide, the last of which is the basis of this entry.
Because of Lawrenceville's worldwide reputation for academic rigor, we're dealing from a position of strength, a place from which we don't have to "sell" Lawrenceville to our readers. They went there, and they know exactly what it's all about. "Take This Job and Love It" lets us tell stories about their fellow alums living lives they might otherwise never notice.
What I love about "Take This Job and Love It" is shedding light on our alums who are working in positions many people might not even realize are professional fields, and the subject of this profile, O'Neal Tutein '94, is a perfect example. He is a daredevil and a natural connector of people. Stateside, he lives a pretty modest life in Florida, but he has managed to carve out a niche business of taking people to exotic locales to fulfill their dreams of adventure.
