Description

Best of CASE District V Award

Institution: University of Wisconsin Madison

Title of entry: Still/Moving

About this entry: Still/Moving is an annual visual storytelling project capturing the essence of a year at UW–Madison. This year, we faced a unique challenge: a full office restructure that reshaped our team, processes, and roles. Rather than defaulting to past approaches, we seized the opportunity to rethink everything—creatively and strategically.

Our audience is broad: students, faculty, staff, alumni, the local community, and anyone with a connection to UW–Madison. Our goal was to create an emotionally resonant, on-brand visual narrative that fosters pride and showcases campus diversity.

Instead of a static slideshow, we introduced a storytelling approach—a vibrant, immersive experience that pulls viewers into the energy of UW. Through carefully curated photography and a narrative arc, we depicted a world in motion: building and discovering, learning and growing, celebrating and grieving. UW–Madison remained the constant, evolving alongside its people.

This shift paid off. Engagement increased significantly, despite fewer social posts. We streamlined collaboration across units, ensuring a more integrated and strategic process. Audience feedback reinforced the impact—viewers reached out to express how deeply the storytelling resonated.
Still/Moving proved that the right creative strategy can do more with less. It was a breakthrough for our team, setting the stage for future innovation.
