Title of entry: Missouri S&T’s College of Arts, Sciences, and Education Annual Report
About this entry: In April 2024, Missouri University of Science and Technology’s College of Arts, Sciences, and Education published its second annual report to highlight the accomplishments of the previous year (2023). Physical copies were mailed to recent donors and friends of the college, and a digital version was sent to all alumni of the college.
The big news for the college in 2023 was the new offering of a Ph.D. in biology, so the cover and inside large spread story was about an undergraduate research team that worked to develop skin grafts from spinach leaves. To highlight this research while enticing more people to engage with and read the magazine, the marketing and communications department had to get very creative for the leading image, which is one of the undergraduate students surrounded by spinach leaves.
The report shows the width and breadth of the college, which is one of the most diverse groups in higher education, with its academic departments including such programs as Army ROTC, physics, education, psychology and performing arts. To show off the 11 departments in 16 total pages including covers, the team had to think strategically while balancing the priorities of the college.
