Title of entry: Missouri S&T’s College of Engineering and Computing Annual Report
About this entry: In 2024, the Missouri S&T College of Engineering and Computing published its first annual report with the goal of increasing visibility and bolstering the college's reputation for research excellence within the national academic community. Although academic leaders around the nation were the primary audience, the report was also distributed digitally to students, faculty, staff and alumni. Print copies were also provided to the admissions department, advancement office and the college’s individual departments to share with prospective students, donors and other visitors, and a digital version resides on the college’s website. This strategy was designed to make the report a versatile, multi-use publication that could be appreciated by a broad audience.
The report’s theme, "Investigation with Intention," focused on the real-world implications of the college's research. It highlighted areas such as biomedical advancements, critical minerals, infrastructure, manufacturing and hypersonics. While it is too early to measure the report's influence on national rankings, tens of thousands of recipients viewed the digital report, and over 1,400 printed copies were mailed to academic leaders throughout the nation. We were successful in launching the college's inaugural annual report, and it made a large audience more aware of the college’s excellence.
