Title of entry: Birds stop motion banner
About this entry: We created a stop motion animation header for the UCLA College's digital bird-themed magazine to engage readers in a visually dynamic and creative way, setting the tone for the magazine’s content. Birds, with their natural grace, vibrant colors and diverse forms, offered a perfect subject to explore through the art of stop motion, a technique known for its unique, quirky handcrafted feel. We felt that stop motion would captivate attention and create a sense of wonder, inviting readers to pause and appreciate the artistry behind the magazine's design. This animated header served not only as a visually appealing introduction but also as a way to enhance the overall user experience by adding a layer of interactivity and personality to the digital platform. By incorporating the themes of nature and wildlife through the lens of bird imagery, the stop motion animation aligned perfectly with the magazine’s core focus, emphasizing the beauty and diversity of the avian world. It allowed us to tell a visual story in a short, yet impactful, way, drawing readers into the theme of the magazine from the moment they landed on the page. The fluidity and charm of stop motion animation made it an ideal medium, offering a sense of playfulness and creativity that resonated with the magazine’s artistic and curious tone. Ultimately, the goal was to create an engaging, immersive introduction that would leave a lasting impression and prepare the reader to experience this magazine.
