Title of entry: No Place Like It

About this entry: The University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) Office of University Communication and Marketing (UCOMM) sought to create a national TV spot that featured student life at Nebraska while also making a connection to parents. When Andrea Haring left a voicemail to the university thanking Husker staff for making her two daughters, Lauren and Madison, feel at home, we could hear in her voice the enormity of that gratitude. Her home is clearly with her daughters, and she carries them with her wherever she goes — and wherever they go. We knew this voicemail was special.

Produced, and directed by our internal University Communication & Marketing team, we filmed with Lauren and Madison over the course of a month and a half during select events that highlighted the girls’ life at Nebraska. This meant filming with their real friends and in real locations that are meaningful to them. We then edited the spot internally over the summer, delivering the spot to broadcast networks in July.

The spot has received overwhelming praise from the Haring family, fans, and stakeholders across Nebraska, from moving social media responses to local press coverage celebrating the spot.
