Title of entry: Dare Northward: Welcome to the Next Ascent

About this entry: This video was created to launch an extension of Colby’s capital campaign after exceeding its initial goal. The mission was to show how we’ve helped transform our community and College and provide a glimpse into what’s to come.

We used both new and existing video assets to edit the piece together. In a unique twist, we combined archival photographs with modern day equivalents shot from the same perspective. We then had a graphic artist combine the two in post production to show the changes that we’ve had to the Waterville community.

The reception and impact of this video has been immense. Its accumulated over a thousand views on YouTube, and was a significant part of launching the campaign both publicly and privately. It was shown to small groups of influential donors, and helped seed the next round of funding with a generous gift of $50m.
