Title of entry: Melton Student Center Game Room Opening Event

About this entry: To debut the new, state of the art Game Room inside the Harold D. Melton Student Center at Auburn University, Student Affairs planned a party designed to excite gamers and pique the curiosity of students and passersby. For the 8 months the room was under construction, we worked to build hype for the new space. As a result, more than 800 students, as well as campus community members, gathered for the unveiling of the nearly-million-dollar facility. Using neon, pixels and black lights as inspiration, custom cookies, energy drinks in custom koozies and a colorful candy bar were a hit. A DJ playing pop remixes of classic video game theme songs drew students in from outside the building. The event also served as an opportunity to introduce 8-bit Aubie, a pixelated version of the Auburn mascot.
